In partnership with ENERGY STAR, FirstEnergy offers this comprehensive home improvement program to residential customers of its Ohio utilities: Ohio Edison Company, Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company and The Toledo Edison Company. Working with a contractor certified by Building Performance Institute (BPI), you will pay for a home assessment and develop a home energy improvement plan. The energy efficiency upgrades you make will be rebated up to a lifetime total of $1,250.   For specific information contact a certified contractor on FirstEnergy's website.

Specific Incentives:

  • Furnaces: $300.
  • Heat pumps: $400 - $600.
  • Central air conditioner: $75 - $150.
  • Room air conditioner: $30.
  • Duct sealing: up to $120.
  • Programmable thermostats: $30.
  • Water heaters: $50 - $300.
  • Water heater tank wraps: $10.
  • Low-flow showerheads: $5.
  • Insulation: $0.10 per square foot, up to $100 - $150 depending on location.
  • Air sealing: up to $120.
  • Windows: $5.
  • Exterior doors: $30.
  • Refrigerators: $30.
  • Freezers and dehumifiers: $25.
  • Dishwashers: $20.
  • Clothes washers: $75.
  • CFLs: $1.
  • Pool pump timers: $60.
